EDUCATION: WE LEARN

We work hard to help our city and state thrive, and we believe that means preparing the next generation to lead the way. The processes and programs in place in Georgia’s educational system are designed to move our students toward successful, happy lives. With no-cost pre-K and free college tuition programs made possible by the HOPE scholarship, Georgia kids can be supported through school from start to finish.

State-Funded Pre-School and College

Georgia connects students of all ages to unrivaled educational opportunities — from pre-school to college — through its state-funded programs.

  • Georgia’s Bright from the Start Program - Georgia’s youngest students are eligible to enroll in free public pre-kindergarten—the nation’s first universal pre-kindergarten program entirely funded by the state lottery. More than 1.4 million of Georgia’s youngest students have participated in thisprogram, giving students early learning advantages that prepare them for greater success in their educational careers.
  • HOPE Scholarship and Grant Program - Georgia’s brightest minds are awarded a free college education thanks to the HOPE Scholarship and Grant Program. Georgia high school graduates earning a 3.0 GPA or higher are eligible for the HOPE Scholarship and/or Zell Miller Grant, which covers up to 100% of tuition at eligible in-state post-secondary institutions. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in college to continue receiving the tuition-waiver. Approximately 45% of high school graduates qualified for the HOPE Scholarship and/or Zell Miller Grant in 2016.
