TRANSPORTATION: WE MOVE

Being in the center of it all means we have lots of places to go- and lots of ways to get there. Our transformative growth has ignited Atlanta's evolution into true transit. It's all about connectivity - our interstate system, reliable bus routes, high-speed rail, carpool lanes, ride-share apps, heck- you can even take a Bird scooter to get where you want to be.

MARTA

MARTA, or Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, is an everyday word for many Atlantans. The heavy rail and bus service don’t just connect Atlanta’s neighborhoods to one another, they also offer direct, convenient access to the airport—the most traveled and connected airport in the world.

Airport

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is well-known as the busiest and most efficient airport in the world. Our global gateway offers non-stop service to more than 150 domestic and 70 international destinations and holds the honor of being the first airport in the world to serve more than 100 million passengers in one single year.

Commuter Programs

Commuters who make their way into the city in their own cars have options for assistance as well, through programs like Georgia Commute Options from the Department of Transportation. This free program offers monetary incentives to motivate commuters to carpool. These options are a key example of the city’s strong partnership and commitment to improving public transit options.

Bikes & Scooters

There are plenty of wheels and rail to get us around, but what about when we want to be the ones pushing the pedals? Atlanta is often seen from under our helmets, whizzing by in a blur beside our 44 miles of bike lanes, 36 miles of multi-use paths, and three miles of protected bike lanes. Need to rent a bike? Try the Relay Bike Share program. And if you are brave enough to try the newest craze, you’ll love the last mile journey on a Bird or Lime-S Scooter.
